A world class island resort is now developing on top of the Rahfalhu Huraa reef, Maldives. This reef is located in North Male Atoll, around 50km northward to Male city. The proposed development consists of six islands which create 77.5ha of land on top of the reef area where the average water depth is just 1m. LHI carried out a comprehensive numerical model study for different monsoon conditions and layouts in order to obtain design wave parameters, sea currents and max/min water levels on behalf of CDE Consultants, Maldives. Impacts for current patterns and water level variations by new development were also assessed under the study.
