The project is launched in 2020 in a view to fix ongoing issues in the harbour which directly impact the fishing communities. Thus, rehabilitation of Ambalangoda fishery harbour focuses on arresting harbour siltation and increrased wave disturbance in the basin. Suitable alternation of breakwater arrangement is proposed in this context including a complete engineering assessment of its feasibility. Thus the constituing consultancy work includes field investigations, numerical modelling of proposed layouts, socio-economic and financial assessment,detailed design, tender documentation and construction supervision.
