The Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project (UKHP) is a run of river hydropower project, at the upper reaches of Kotmale Oya in the Mahaweli Basin, with an installed capacity of 150MW and will produce about 400GWh/year. It was required to establish a real time flood forecasting and warning system for Upper Kothamle Hydropower Project. The hydrological and hydraulic model was setup, calibrated, verified and simulated by LHI. The MIKE CUSTOMISED system was setup at the site with DHI assistance. Cross section Survey is being carried out to provide the necessary cross section data.
